NORFI solutions in the field of ambulances & emergency services

Specially developed for ambulances & emergency vehicles

Diesel emissions can be health-endangered and might in worst case lead to cancer, even in small amounts. Therefore, these emissions must be captured already in working areas e.g. vehicles halls of the fire department or the technical emergency service.

It is a serious mistake to believe that diesel vehicles with Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standard do not emit any dangerous emissions, and a particle filter is not the solution to this problem: The number and the size of the particles will be reduced, but nevertheless they are still very dangerous. A further aspect which is discussed in connection with the purchase of an extraction systems is the space requirement: In view of this fact NORFI has developed an extraction system which do not only extract the exhaust gases reliable but also permits a trouble-free and smooth operation.

You can rely on NORFI, in each phase.

NORFI extraction solutions for ambulances and emergency vehicles has been developed particularly to meet the specifications of such vehicles. All necessary steps will be carried out automatically– without disturbing the emergency procedures.

No matter where the exhaust pipe has been mounted at the vehicle: for each kind of vehicle type NORFI offers the matching detection unit or nozzle thereby ensuring a reliable extraction of exhaust gases when engine is running. A flexible setting of the follow-up time integrated into the control system guarantees that exhaust gases won`t be released into the hall.

The distances of the emergency vehicles differ according to structural circumstances. To ensure a reliable transport of the extraction system from the parking position to the leaving of the building NORFI offers torsion free exhaust channels or side rails. The special side rails make it possible to use a movable system also in tight spaces.

The extraction system is decoupling independently when the emergency vehicle is leaving the operation center. NORFI offers decoupling mechanism in electromagnetic, pneumatic or mechanical design.

Returning of the extraction system into its home position is an absolute necessity in vehicle access areas. Only in this way it can be ensured that no health-endangered exhaust gases will be emitted in the vehicle hall. NORFI offers a variety of solutions, selectively deliverable as a channel system or track system. If required, the fan in the system overruns for a preset time to avoid that any exhaust gases remain in the pipeline or escape within vehicle hall.

Solutions for emergency vehicles

Movable or stationary: You have the choice!

Irrespective of whether you are interested in an automatic or a stationary extractions system: NORFI offers a wide range of complete systems or individual components which can be combined according to your specifications. We would be happy to advise you in case of special requirements.

NORFI provides movable extraction systems with electromagnetic, pneumatic and mechanical coupling mechanism.

„Type E“
Movable extraction systems with electromagnetic coupling and automatic decoupling

These systems are suitable for ambulance and emergency vehicles where the exhaust pipes are mounted vertical, at the bottom or at the top of the chassis vehicles. The detection unit or exhaust nozzle is fixed electro magnetically to an anchor stowed on the outside of the vehicle by means of an electromagnet. Therefore, a direct connection between the detection units to the exhaust pipe is not necessary. The automatic decoupling is done by a switch mounted on the channel system or track system. An electronical impulse triggers an ejection impulse for an immediate and smooth decoupling. The system requires 25 V DC operating voltage.

„Type D“
Movable extraction system with pneumatic coupling and automatic decoupling

These systems are suitable for ambulances and emergency vehicles where the exhaust pipes are mounted at the bottom of the chassis. The pneumatic extraction nozzle is fixed directly at the exhaust pipe by means of integrated air cushions. The exhaust valve triggers the impulse for an automatic decoupling which can be adjusted on the channel or track system. A fast decoupling is also possible by means of quick exhaust valve on the extraction nozzle. The systems requires a compress air supply of 6-8 bar.

„Type M“
Movable extraction system with mechanical coupling and automatic decoupling

These systems are suitable for ambulance and emergency vehicles where the exhaust pipes are mounted vertical, at the bottom or at the top of the chassis. The detection unit or exhaust nozzle is fixed directly at the exhaust pipe by means of clamping units or clamp forceps. The automatic decoupling is done by a bowden cable and mechanical separation track which is freely adjustable on the channel system or track system. The system do not require any additional media care.

In the NORFI Portfolio you are finding a wide range of individual components which can be assembled according to your specifications. We would be happy to advise you in case of special requirements.

Exhaust hose reels

NORFI exhaust hose reels are available in different variants and sizes. On emergency vehicles with exhaust pipes mounted below the chassis the hose reels can additionally be equipped with a mechanic or pneumatic clamping nozzle.

Suction swivel arms

NORFI suction swiveling arms guarantee a reliable extracting of steam and gases which are generated by machines with combustion engines like generators, pumps or hydraulic aggregates.

Funnel

This solution is especially suitable for the use at increased temperatures, e.g. tests or maintenance of vehicles and aggregates or when connecting to existing underfloor exhaust systems.
